Abstract: The paper examined the strategies for managing functional teachers' education programme for combating security challenges and enhancing National development in Nigeria. The focus therefore was on the concepts functional teachers' education, security challenges and development and how teachers' education can be made functional towards combating the security challenges in Nigeria and how developmental efforts could be enhanced. It was however recommended that teachers education curriculum should be restructured and geared towards combating security challenges and National development especially in Nigeria.
