Abstract: This paper examines the present state of the health systems and the present health of the population in Nigeria. The paper also highlights the problems of availability and access to health facilities; problem of availability and quality of health services; barriers to access and utilization of health services; lack of medical personnel, and problem of drug supplies and distribution. The paper finally offers recommendations on ways to curtail the factors affecting the present health system.
