Abstract: | This paper discusses "Hushed Factors Causing Hard-of-Hearing in Jos Conurbation". Hearing impairment is seen as a damage done to the organ of hearing which results in defected ability to perceive sounds with the ear. It took a look at some features/activities that are often sources of concern to the audiologists, hearing rehabilitation scientists and other scientists related to ear care, hearing health and special education. These features/activities are noise pollution, Triethyltin/Tin-Mesoporphyrin and ototoxic matereials from poor waste disposals in the markets, hospitals and other public places. A common effect of these feature and activities is hard-of-hearing and even deafness. Emphasis is made on the fact that Jos conurbation is noise: "inhabitants live, eat and sleep noise," as a result, many lives with hard-of-hearing if not deafness. The paper finally looked at audiological services in Jos conurbation. |
