Abstract: The paper discusses the establishment of Library and Information Science programme in the University of Jos to fill a gap in the manpower needs of Plateau State and neighbouring States in the area of library and information provision. The paper recommends that maximize the benefits associated with the programme; the University Authorities need to consolidate on the progress made so far for the provision of adequate physical facilities, recruitment of staff, so as to enhance NUC accreditation.
