Title: Challenges and Coping Strategies of Single Parents: Case Study of Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Abstract: The major purpose of the study was to identify the major challenges and coping strategies of single parents in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State. The population was made up of single parents in the LGA. Qualitative data were collected using focus group discussion (FGD) guide. Findings reveal a total of seven causes of single parenthood in the area, eleven challenges faced by single parents and seven coping strategies employed by the parents. Based on the findings, four major recommendations for promoting family survival and stability were made.
