Abstract: | The study examines the extent to which the provisions of
computer systems and services at the university of Jos
library have encouraged users in patronizing the library_
It is a survey research which uses analysis of records
and interview as instruments for data collection. The
comparative analysis of the yearly output of number of
readers in the library and the yearly output of the library
computer laboratory users from 2005 to 2008 were
established. The study revealed yearly increase in the
number of readers in the library with an average of
99,979 readers per annum. 2008 indicated the highest
readers in the library with 135,824 (33.96%) having a
surplus of 35,845 users from the mean. The study
showed a continuous yearly increase in the number of
users that browsed the internet in the laboratory with a
continuous decrease in the percentage of the library
users who browsed internet in the laboratory because of
inadequate desktop computers. It is recommended
among other things that enough computers and seating
capacity should be provided to augment efforts at
